Manufacturing Technician Job Description
This position requires an individual to work in a manufacturing environment operating machinery, driving mobile equipment and completing other general operatives' tasks. The technician will also be responsible for safety, general housekeeping and working as part of a team.
Main Responsibilities:
* Safety and Compliance: Follow all health, safety & environmental rules and procedures and participate in safety and environmental activities to improve the workplace for all employees.
* Work Instructions: Comply with all work instructions as required, adhering to the process. Record all information as required associated with the process using the method provided (documentation or electronic device).
* Production Targets: Ability to work to specific deadlines and production targets daily or weekly meeting and/or exceeding them.
* Process Improvement: Evaluate process and practices and make recommendations and implement approved measures/change which result in continuous improvement in production methods and performance of equipment.
* Maintenance: Maintain the machine or equipment as per daily, weekly, monthly maintenance program.
* Troubleshooting: Resolve any technical problems on equipment that could impact production including but not limited to safety, line efficiency, quality issues. Escalate issues immediately to Team Leader / Shift Manager if they cannot be resolved.
* Quality Control: Monitor the production process and perform basic testing and quality checks.
Main Requirements:
* Education: Level 5 or equivalent on the National Framework.
* Experience: 1-year relevant manufacturing experience.
* Critical Thinking: Ability to solve problems.
* Teamwork: Ability to think critically – regarding tasks on hand and opportunities to improve.
* Communication: Good communication skills.
* Adaptability: Willing to learn and develop.
* Accountability: Ability to take ownership, accountability, and responsibility.
Additional Information:
* Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear with or without hearing protection.
* Manual lifting of loads is often associated with tasks.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, colour vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus, with or without visual assistance.
