Job Description
The Shift Operations Manager is responsible for managing daily activities in the distribution centre, including Inbound and Outbound operations. This role assists in staffing, training, and scheduling of the warehouse team while maintaining adherence to productivity goals and strict budget planning. A safe and healthy work environment is maintained, with compliance to Health and Safety regulations and guidelines. The manager provides 100% customer satisfaction by ensuring same-day shipment of all customer orders, with accuracy and proper packaging using defined transportation modes.
This role reports directly to the International Trade and Logistics Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide hands-on supervision to maximize productivity and accuracy among staff. Utilize weekly benchmark reports, performance posting, and goal setting to measure and communicate results to the team.
* Plan daily workloads to ensure 100% shipping of customer orders on the same day.
* Support standards with the warehouse team to drive a customer-focused environment.
* Supervise daily processes to meet or exceed Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics.
* Provide direction and assistance to the warehouse team by clarifying questions regarding job assignments and resolving issues.
* Meet departmental expectations to effectively drive results.
* Assist in training, developing, and managing the warehouse team. Monitor and enhance individual performance through clearly defined expectations, training, coaching, and mentoring to achieve desired results.
* Ensure site compliance with Health & Safety Regulations.
* Provide training and certification prior to an employee operating Industrial Powered equipment in the facilities.
* Report warehouses' activities using distribution center Business Metrics reports and other required reports.
* Comply with logistic and distribution center budgetary constraints for the warehouse and monitor controllable expenses.
* Perform other duties as required due to changes in job requirements.
Qualifications:
* Strong Warehouse knowledge and business acumen.
* 2-4 years experience in Distribution Centre operations, preferably with Store, Direct to Consumer, and Business to Business applications.
* 2-4 years functional knowledge and experience in conducting metric-driven analysis and accountability.
* Experience using and implementing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
* Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Operating Systems.
* Understanding of Process Improvement/Six Sigma processes is a plus.
* Proven leadership and people management skills are essential.
* Ability to proactively identify challenges and arrive at optimum solutions to achieve success.
* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, or Economics is preferred.
* A working knowledge of Distribution Centre processes and functions is required.
* Preparedness to work multiple shifts, as required by business need.
