Role: The Fitout Design Manager will lead the design management process for drylining projects, with a particular focus on Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs) and large-scale construction. This role will ensure that all design elements meet regulatory standards, project specifications, and client expectations. Reporting to Design Director, the Fit-out Design Manager will oversee a team of designers and work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver effective and compliant design solutions. Principal Duties & Key Deliverables Project Design Leadership: Lead and manage the design process for complex drylining projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to align design with project requirements and timelines. Conduct regular design reviews to ensure alignment with client specifications and regulatory requirements. HRB Compliance & Competency: Ensure all design personnel complete competency declarations for Higher-Risk Building (HRB) projects, in line with current regulations. Oversee design risk assessments and ensure all HRB designs comply with the Building Safety Act and relevant safety standards. Team Management & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of design personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Provide training and support to ensure team competency in design standards and compliance requirements. Technical Oversight: Review and approve detailed design drawings, specifications, and materials for drylining systems. Conduct technical assessments and resolve design-related issues, optimizing solutions for safety, cost-effectiveness, and quality. Client Management: Serve as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding design-related matters. Attend client meetings, design workshops, and site visits to ensure alignment and address any concerns or adjustments. Documentation & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and submission of design documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and project progress reports. Ensure design compliance documentation is accurately maintained and readily available for audits or project reviews. Prepare bi-weekly project reports to the Design Director highlighting the project progress and performance. Experience Qualifications Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Proven relevant experience in drylining design management within the construction industry, ideally with exposure to HRBs or large infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of drylining systems, materials, and regulations. Proven ability to manage and mentor design teams effectively. Familiarity with BIM and CAD software, as well as other relevant design and project management tools. Comprehensive understanding of UK building regulations, safety standards, and competency requirements for Higher-Risk Buildings.
