A Design Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) is required for a leading Galway-based company located in their Galway R&D Center. The successful candidate will work as part of the new Engineering team and have responsibility for driving improvements through design and innovation on our products as part of a team both locally and EMEA wide. The successful candidate will work on various productivity and product enhancement projects which need to be delivered in a timely manner.
THE ROLE:
* Identify, design, and deliver engineering projects on our products that will support factory, supplier & customer needs whilst achieving productivity and reliability requirements.
* Apply problem-solving tools and techniques to create solutions to opportunities on existing products and new product development.
* Knowledge and ability to work within our NPD Process, from design to factory integration.
* Plan, schedule, and report on projects in a professional manner, using standard Project Management techniques, coordinating where necessary across non-engineering functions.
* Development, implementation, and coordination of validation plans in conjunction with our Test and Reliability teams, using systematic methodology, such as DFMEA, DVP&R.
* Proficiency in Large Assembly Techniques will be required as is a detailed understanding of BOM and design structure.
* Proficiency in ProE software is a distinct advantage.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Previous experience in related areas and industries desired, such as: Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Agricultural machinery, and Automotive.
* Proficiency in Creo Parametric software is a distinct advantage.
* Ability to manage critical product cost and new product development projects with team members and partners spread across global locations.
* Previous experience in New Product Development (NPD) process, DFMEA, 6 Sigma, is desirable.
* Fluent English - other European languages are an advantage.
