Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Engineering Manager to lead our Energy Team (Tanks, Offshore) and Modular Team within the offshore and data centre manufacturing industry. This role will oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team, including mechanical and electrical engineers, ensuring the efficient execution of projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and innovation.
The Engineering Manager will play a key role in managing engineering schedules, ensuring seamless collaboration between departments, and optimizing product design to enhance manufacturability and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Engineering Management:
2. Lead and manage a team of engineers, including mechanical, electrical, design, and project engineers.
3. Ensure the production of high-quality engineering documentation aligned with the company's manufacturing schedule.
4. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering department, prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines.
5. Support the professional development of the engineering team through training and mentorship.
6. Engineering & Design Oversight:
7. Maintain and manage a structured resource plan for design engineers, ensuring all new contracts are assigned efficiently.
8. Oversee technical specifications, manufacturing drawings, and CAD designs to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
9. Implement a quality control process to eliminate errors in engineering documentation before release to manufacturing.
10. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product design, efficiency, and standardization.
11. Sales & Customer Support:
12. Manage structured sales hand-over meetings to ensure clear transmission of order details to the engineering team.
13. Provide technical support to the Sales Team and customers during the quotation and post-order stages.
14. Address technical inquiries, ensuring product designs align with customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
15. Factory & Production Support:
16. Liaise closely with manufacturing teams to address design queries and ensure smooth production workflows.
17. Work with suppliers and subcontractors to source components and materials in line with project specifications.
18. Assist the Quality Team in resolving field issues related to product design and manufacturing.
19. Compliance & Industry Standards:
20. Ensure all engineering designs comply with regulatory approvals, industry standards, and offshore manufacturing requirements.
21. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Pressure Vessel Codes and other relevant certifications.
22. Oversee R&D initiatives to drive innovation in offshore, modular, and data centre manufacturing solutions.
23. Cost Optimisation & Continuous Improvement:
24. Implement a system for continuous improvement of technical specifications and manufacturing drawings.
25. Identify and implement design changes to reduce product costs through simplification and standardization.
26. Collaborate with procurement and production teams to improve cost efficiency and supply chain performance.
Qualifications & Experience
1. 10+ years of experience in metal fabrication, offshore manufacturing, or data centre manufacturing, with at least 4 years in a management role leading engineering team.
2. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (master's degree preferred).
3. Strong project management skills, with experience in design and drafting supervision.
4. Proven ability to interpret detailed technical specifications and drawings in a high-pressure production environment.
5. Experience in liaising with component suppliers and subcontractors to optimize manufacturing processes.
6. Familiarity with Pressure Vessel Codes and offshore industry standards.
7. Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
8. Previous experience in corrective action implementation and continuous process improvement.
