Position Overview: We have an opportunity for a Director & Head of Corporate Banking Consumer, Industrial and Retail ("CIR"), Europe.
This role is responsible for developing and leading the strategy to grow our relationships with large multi-regional corporates active in Consumer, Industrial and Retail sectors.
As global RMs they will be responsible for partnering with other regions by developing and implementing strategy that allows us to maximize our share of ancillary wallet with this client base.
Leads and oversees the CIR team in Europe ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Director & Head is primarily responsible for managing a portfolio of clients within the EU countries to drive profitable growth whilst operating within the Bank's risk parameters, policies and procedures.
The Director & Head will be expected to develop expertise within CIR to enhance the Bank's market presence and expand their designated account portfolio.
What You'll Do: Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for CIR in Europe.
Develops overall strategic objectives, methodology, deliverables and KPIs for the Corporate Banking CIR industries, demonstrating an understanding of each sub sector encompassed; a key knowledge resource for clients, peers and co-workers within these sectors.
Establishes annual financial targets for the team, including revenues (lending revenues and fee income), ROAC, ROEE, RORWA, asset growth, and new clients; while managing overall portfolio credit quality, and any required credit provisions or write-offs.
Manages a portfolio of corporate clients in the CIR sectors, acting as lead Relationship Manager for the bank globally of these clients, and leading cross-product and cross-regional work streams to maximize client relationship touch points and increase profitability generated from these clients.
Drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge, Manages and develops the team in providing unique financing solutions to clients in Europe, and delivering Scotiabank's broader product platform.
Structures, analyzes and performs due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity Participates / leads marketing efforts including delivery of marketing pitches.
Develops recommendations for the appropriate course of action and manages the team's preparation of credit submissions for adjudication by Global Risk Management Develops and maintains effective industry relationships with various product partners and regional partners within GBM, as well industry contacts, lenders and legal counsel.
Ensures team's credit files, agreements and security documents are complete and up to date.
Provides leadership, guidance and mentorship to members of the team, for coverage of external clients and in day-to-day actions internally across stakeholders.
What You'll Bring: MBA, CFA or CA designation or appropriate financial background/experience Strong relevant experience and Corporate Banking background with focus on CIR Self-motivated, results focused, team player with strong learning ability Strong written and verbal communication skills Previous corporate banking or credit analysis experience Strong financial modelling skills and accounting knowledge Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point) French and/or Spanish as a 2nd language is a strong preference What's in it for you?
