Our client is a large supplier in the agriculture sector seeking a well-experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join their team. A strong operations background with people management is essential, along with strong organisational, HR, and IR experience.
Salary: Negotiable doe base plus benefits.
The role will provide full support to the Operations Manager in all activities in running the site when necessary.
The Role:
Operational:
1. Supervise and co-ordinate day-to-day operational activities.
2. Ensure smooth operations and compliance with operational best practices.
3. Support the management of operational staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
4. Ensure Supervisory, Operational, and 3rd Party cover.
5. Ensure that operations are performed in an effective and efficient manner.
6. Liaise with suppliers and customers on a day-to-day basis to ensure smooth product flow in and out of facilities.
People Management:
1. Help with the development of onsite personnel through training and support.
2. Support the development of training practices to ensure that all team members are fully aware of current best practices, both internal and external to the company.
3. Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.
4. Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure appropriate systems are in place to manage performance, absence management, succession planning, and recruitment, ensuring a culture of excellence with ownership for the delivery of objectives.
Cost Control:
1. Knowledge of cost base improvements. Help to manage the cost base and maximise opportunities for savings.
2. Assist with the maintenance of port operational budgets within agreed limits, i.e., direct and indirect labour, services, energy.
3. Assist with the implementation of continuous improvement measures to optimise operational expenses.
Quality:
1. Manage the company standards, i.e., ISO9001, and ensure audit compliance.
2. Be fully knowledgeable in these areas.
3. Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Team Management:
1. Motivate a diverse team in the port in line with company standards.
2. Plan and maintain high levels of communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Measurement:
1. Annual KPIs will be agreed to ensure the achievement of operational objectives, including operational efficiency, health and safety, and customer service.
2. Development of recovery plans as and when required to ensure achievement of all targets.
3. Analyse data to get to the root cause of issues, develop and implement corrective action plans, and monitor results.
Organisation:
1. Maintenance of administration and relevant reporting and planning systems.
2. Assist with the implementation of corporate policy and strategy.
3. Help to ensure the company operates within relevant legislation.
4. Provide assistance with the prompt and accurate completion of all administration and reporting tasks.
