Cost Accountant Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team. Reporting to company directors, this full-time position involves analyzing and interpreting financial data to provide insights into cost control and optimization strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Data Analysis: Prepare and maintain accurate cost records, including cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, and overhead allocation.
* Process Monitoring: Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with cost standards and identify areas for efficiency gains.
* Cost Variance Analysis: Conduct regular cost variance analyses and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
* Budget Development: Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, focusing on cost drivers and potential risks.
* Closing Activities: Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
* Regulatory Updates: Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations related to cost accounting practices.
* Communication: Communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
Requirements:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
* Professional Qualifications: Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant).
* Experience: 3+ years experience
* Software Skills: Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
* GAAP Knowledge: Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
About the Role:
This is a full-time position within an easy commute to all towns in Kerry. Salary is open to negotiation and based on experience.
