Job Description
We are now hiring a Scientist II to join our Product Development Science and Technology (PDS&T) Bioassay team in Westport. PDS&T is a data-driven Operations function supporting the pipeline and on-market commercial products. As a PDS&T Scientist II at AbbVie, you will serve as a Bioassay technical expert, independently investigating, identifying, developing, and optimizing new methods and techniques to address critical project needs. You will continuously seek to improve existing laboratory methods and processes, adapt literature to accomplish assignments, and demonstrate mastery in a broad range of experimental techniques and data analysis methods.
Responsibilities:
* Support implementation of new Bioassays at Westport, specifically Cell Based Potency Assays and ELISAs. This includes development, troubleshooting, transfer and validation of new methods under GMP conditions.
* Design, execute, and interpret critical experiments independently to answer scientific questions, understanding the broad objectives of projects and adjusting experimental plans as needed.
* Learn, master, and implement new experimental techniques, acting as a resource or mentor for others.
* Innovate and implement new experimental protocols to enhance laboratory processes specifically automation.
* Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in your field of expertise.
* Set and meet experimental timelines, ensuring efficient project progression.
* Organize and present scientific plans and data effectively, contributing to the conceptual framework of publications, presentations, and patents.
* Routinely read, adapt, and apply relevant scientific literature to have a significant impact on projects, primarily through lab and/or pilot plant activities.
Qualifications
* BS degree or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of relevant experience, or MS degree or equivalent education with typically 3 or more years of relevant experience.
* Experience working in a GMP Cell culture lab with a focus on automation.
* Proven ability to independently design, execute, and interpret experimental findings.
* Demonstrated ability to learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques.
* Strong ability to multitask while adhering to timelines.
* Excellent scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication capabilities.
