Metrologist Role Summary:
This Metrologist position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of manufacturing systems, tools, and instrumentation at our facility in Longford. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise and be able to interpret complex data.
Key Responsibilities:
* Interpret Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing drawings to determine product inspection requirements.
* Develop and edit programs using PC-DMIS software to support manufacturing processes.
* Serve as a technical expert for metrology inspection and provide guidance to team members.
* Design and develop tooling/fixture requirements to facilitate product inspection on CMM/Vision systems in collaboration with tooling manufacturers.
* Evaluate gauges and develop methods for calibration frequencies, gauge life, and fitness for purpose.
* Prepare detailed inspection documentation, including written descriptions of inspection results and customer-specific CMM reports.
* Work from written or verbal instructions, detailed engineering drawings, and 3D models to ensure accurate measurements.
* Introduce metrology to support new product introductions and conduct G R & R studies as required.
* Train QC personnel on metrology best practices and complete measurement data for new product qualifications.
* Maintain compliance with ISO and IATF standards.
Requirements:
* Degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or Design (Diploma accepted).
* Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
* Familiarity with Autocad/3D drawing packages is desirable but not essential.
* Good understanding of statistics and SPC principles.
* Knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and tools used to determine product acceptance.
* IT literacy, proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently.
