* Figures as of Q4 2023 Why this role is important to us The Head of Tax Services is responsible for leading, managing and developing a team of ~600 professionals located in different countries around the world focused on delivery of custody, fund and other tax administration services to clients across multiple markets and tax domiciles.
This team provides a variety of tax preparation, reporting and filing services on behalf of clients in accordance with our tax product catalogue.
This includes withholding tax, capital gains tax, fund level tax, investor level tax, VAT, stamp duty, FATCA, CRS and other agreed tax services.
The Head of Tax Services is responsible for working with our Product and Technology teams to develop and deliver services in accordance with jurisdictional requirements underpinned by robust technology capabilities and strong governance of third party professional tax services firms.
What you will be responsible for Tax services performance and delivery to clients in accordance with all contractual and service level agreements High standards of accuracy and timeliness, delivering services efficiently and with a continuous focus on improving quality and productivity Operating policies, procedures and controls are documented, adhered to and compliant with relevant SOC/ISAE controls and regulatory requirements Key metrics, performance and risk indicators to track volumes, manage growth, service delivery quality, cost, productivity, efficiency and risk Financial performance to operating plan, accurate forecasts, and active management of headcount and expenses to achieve agreed efficiency targets Professional development and management of client relationships, conducting operational service reviews regularly Representation of global tax teams at client meetings, presentations and due diligence reviews Thorough review of new business and service requests including operating model design, resource and technology requirements and risk assessment Best in class, scalable operating models leveraging global process standards and strategic technology platforms Optimal organization and resources available for growth, onboarding, conversions, regulatory and other major projects Engagement with technology and vendors on functional specifications, testing and delivery of new applications and/or software upgrades Effective team building, training, development, talent and succession planning focused on performance and stretch goals Timely information sharing with executive management, legal entity boards, and second and third lines of defense regarding operational and service issues, risks and events Awareness of relevant business and product developments, market trends and regulatory changes impacting operations, clients and market participants Development and execution of agreed business plans providing input into the formulation of Global Delivery, Technology and Operations global strategy Support for control, risk, compliance/ethics and internal audit reviews or inspections with no open or overdue actions for Tax Services Management of requests for information from external auditors, legal advisors, regulators and other parties in compliance with local and corporate policies Management of conflicts of interest in accordance with corporate policy, maintaining high standards of integrity Compliance with corporate and local policies and procedures, focusing on health and safety, operational risk, resiliency and business continuity What we value A proven track record in tax at a senior level in asset servicing or professional practice Over 15 years' experience running tax services operations teams within financial services Strong technical knowledge of custody and fund taxation, associated laws and regulations Enterprise leadership skills managing client service delivery and business growth Experience interfacing at a senior level with clients, service providers and regulators Strong team leadership, coaching, mentoring, communication and presentation skills Focus on talent management, optimizing technology and managing operational risk Energy, enthusiasm and an obsession with service quality and delivering to our clients An ability to think strategically, managing complexity, change and multiple priorities A successful track record of delivering major operational or platform improvements A relevant graduate degree or masters qualification that can be leveraged in this role About State Street What we do.
