Senior Oracle Developer - Athlone (BBBH2740) Athlone, Republic of Ireland
Overview of Role
Our client is looking for a Senior Oracle Developer to provide services alongside other internal department staff under the direction of the IT Pensions Development Manager. You will be required to work closely with other development teams, some of which may have external contractors.
It is a mandatory requirement that you have the equivalent of Senior i.e., >7 years experience as an Oracle Developer, including experience in the following:
* Advanced PL/SQL (7 years’ experience)
* Oracle Development Toolkit
* Oracle Forms and Reports
You will work on the Department’s Payroll Oracle applications and Pensions applications. These applications are hosted internally and include several bespoke code customisation routines. The data held in these applications is critical to several internal business processes including the processing of clients' payrolls and administration of Pension Schemes.
You will be responsible for the support and maintenance of these applications along with smaller Oracle Applications. Experience in HR Payroll applications and awareness of Public Sector Pension Schemes would be desirable.
You will be based in the Athlone office and required to attend the office on the days that there will be IT Team/Business Units meetings/workshops. The first two months onboarding will require more frequent days on site. Thereafter, one day per week minimum on site is required. This will be a twelve-month contract initially with the option to then extend up to two years. You must be available to provide services from the commencement date of the services estimated to be 01/03/2025.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Lead on ensuring robust documentation is in place and updated for key business critical customised database routines including clear data lineage for origins of data inputs and clear code commentary where customised logic has been applied.
* Assisting with database design and implementation.
* Development and maintenance of PLSQL database objects employing local standards on an ongoing basis to support development teams across the Department.
* Troubleshooting and resolving database problems, including database tuning.
* Determination of any shortcomings of database system and recommending improvements.
* Advising developers on best practice and optimal approach in the use of PL/SQL.
* Provision of support for data analysis and data-driven decision making.
* Completing assigned tasks related to phases of development lifecycle of enterprise applications within given scope and timeframe requirements.
* Developing customised reports.
* Mentoring and facilitating skills transfer to Department staff.
* Any other tasks which are considered by the Department to be appropriate to the role.
Key Qualification/Experience required:
* Experience in the development and maintenance of PL/SQL packages making full use of the latest features of PL/SQL, with specific emphasis on advanced PL/SQL.
* Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Oracle Forms/Reports, including the creation/modification of forms and the management of forms server configuration files and the installation of forms.
* Demonstrate knowledge of Linux & Windows Operating Systems including batch scripting.
* Demonstrate knowledge with SQL Developer.
* Demonstrate experience in skills transfer in relation to Oracle forms, reports and PL/SQL.
* Demonstrate approach to effectively document code to ensure code maintainability, readability and overall risk reduction on single resource reliance.
