Outreach, Engagement and Impact Officer Irelands Knowledge Centre for Carbon, Climate and Community Action (IKC3) is dedicated to advancing sustainability, climate action and community development across Ireland.
Through collaboration, education, and capacity-building, IKC3 plays a key role in fostering knowledge and skills to drive sustainable development and climate resilience in communities and businesses alike.
IKC3 is developing a national collaborative multi-university digital sustainability skills platform for the agile development and co-delivery of Sustainability, Carbon and Climate Knowledge to advance the skill and talent pipeline in Ireland to enable enterprise and society to adapt and transition to a decarbonised economy and sustainable living.
Munster Technological University is recruiting for an Outreach, Engagement and Impact Officer to join Ireland's Knowledge Centre for Carbon, Climate and Community Action (IKC3) team to work across the HEA Human Capital Initiative Pillar 3 IKC3 project at MTU Kerry on the promotion, communication and dissemination of activities and outcomes to strengthen IKC3 brands and to promote the new courses developed and offered by the project and to lead on all marketing activities associated with the development of a national digital sustainability skills platform.
This is a specific purpose post to the end of the project on 31 October 2026.
The consortium, led by Munster Technological University in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin, involves an extensive EU network of partners, including the EIT Climate KIC Sustainable Innovations Spain, European HEIs, companies, enterprise clusters, community groups, local government, civic and social innovators.
The IKC3 team is taking a radical approach deploying a quintuple helix model of innovation to education developing scalable multi-university solutions for a flexible and personalised learning, integrating state of the art pedagogies and learning pathways, including micro-credentials, summer schools, dual and collaborative learning, deep learning demonstrations and digitisation to foster the transition to a carbon neutral society and achievement of the Climate Action Plan.
Role:
The IKC3 Outreach, Engagement and Impact Officer will lead the mainstream activity taking a dataled approach to develop key strategies, tools and impact assessment KPIs to significantly enhance the national awareness and visibility of the iKC3 skills platform, educational programs and microcredentials offered, the Sustainability Professionals Network, the work of the IKC3 project and team and the green skills agenda.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for collaborating with key partners and stakeholders to market and promote innovations in sustainability skills.
The appointee will also contribute significantly to the ongoing dissemination, communication and promotion of the IKC3 network, collaborating and complementing the ecosystem development activities in engaging with stakeholder groups, including researchers, industry, public agencies and NGOs to share the activities, results and impacts of the IKC3 project towards the goal of delivering a national response to skills needs for sustainability.
Input and involvement in the marketing activities across the project on micro-courses, microcredentials and pedagogies is expected.
In addition, marketing of workshops and other teaching and learning developments are also a key part of this role.
The IKC3 Outreach, Engagement and Impact Officer will play a leading and pivotal role in upscaling national awareness and use of the IKC3 skills platform, program promotion and uptake, content and campaign development and assessment of the impact of the various activities both to advance best practices and tools kits for sustainability skills programs and to also support in identifying gaps in skills and program provision.
The core duties and responsibilities will include: Duties and Responsibilities: Play a key role in the communication and dissemination strategy and activities for the IKC3 project with particular emphasis on the digital sustainability skills platform Develop a marketing and engagement plan for the national roll-out of the platform across the HEI sector Develop and manage marketing campaigns and activities of the IKC3 project Manage the operation and content management of the various social media channels Manage the IKC3 website content updating Design and develop various infographics, collateral and publications as required Develop and monitor the social media marketing budgets Monitor and evaluate the success of all Outreach and Engagement activities undertaken, assessing key datasets, KPI and results to inform future activities through evaluation and presenting progress reports Development of content for various channels, including press releases, event materials, project brochures, e-flyers, videos, podcasts etc Champion best practice in social media marketing as a means by which to disseminate project outcomes, attract students, build capacities, national and international recognition of IKC3 Organise and manage events, activities and materials and submit award applications which promote the IKC3 values related to excellence, innovation and inclusion Actively participating on working groups and wider project activities Contribute to the development of any other campaigns as are necessary to the success of the IKC3 project Attend project meetings and complete reports and deliverables as required Undertake such other appropriate duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Project Director.

Essential Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar Outreach and Engagement Officer or marketing manager role.
Minimum 3 years' experience in content creation, digital marketing, brand development and community management.
Experience in the development and assessment of key KPI to determine the impact of key campaigns, programs and skills provision to both inform future engagement activities and also programme development.
Honours degree or postgraduate degree in marketing or a related area.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.
Desirable Requirements Experience of designing and implementing communications and marketing strategies, preferably in a higher education setting Significant experience in the use of digital media, content creation and related tools for marketing and communications Significant experience in the graphic design and content development Excellent communication skills with a very high standard of written English and proven content generation experience Demonstrable ability to gather and analyse information from a variety of sources to inform clear, timely and well-grounded decisions Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and complete tasks, delivering results under pressure and within deadlines Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, clients and external stakeholders Excellent IT skills, with a high degree of proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and expertise in web-based content management systems and social media.
Applicants should have demonstrable experience of the following expertise: An interest in sustainability, climate action and a circular economy.
Event organisation in both physical and virtual mediums.
Experience in creation of dissemination and communication plan and organisational skills to manage and monitoring.
Participation in large scale collaborative projects.
Salary:
The salary for this post is €44,847 - €51,313 (Post Doc Researcher 1) per annum to 31 December 2026
