Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical support to Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Research & Development. In addition, drive process improvements to increase Manufacturing efficiency plus further develop manufacturing activities within the plant.
Reporting to: Manager, Manufacturing Engineering
Responsibilities
1. The deisgn and manufacture of benchtop assembly equipment for production, new product introduction, testing and continuous improvement.
2. The design of tooling/machinery equipment for production, new product introduction, testing and continuous improvement.
3. Generation of technical files associated with equipment. (schematics/drawings/IFU)
4. Assist with generation of equipment URS.
5. Hold equipment design review meetings to agree on feasible solutions.
6. Manage Vendors for delivery of build components.
7. The integration of machined components with off the shelf parts to complete the equipment. (Keeping spares to a minimum)
8. Generation of the specification for any components required within the equipment,. PLCs, Sensors, Pneumatic Actuators, and Servo Motors etc.
9. The manufacture of components as per the supplied drawings, with emphasis on machining fits and tolerances.
10. The integration of electrical components. (HMI/PLC/Loadcell/sensors etc)
11. The integration of any pneumatic components into the equipment. (Cylinders/regulators etc)
12. Integration of Safety components as part of in-house CE marking. This includes safety relays, safety interlock switches, safety sensors, etc.
13. The programming and debugging of equipment PLC.
14. Assisting Product Transfer Team to introduce new products to manufacturing.
15. Support installation and maintenance of the equipment.
16. Research of new automation/control technologies for implementation into new and existing equipment.
17. Provide technical support for the equipment build during build and debug of the equipment once complete.
18. Liaise and communicate with the other project team members.
19. Working in a tightly regulated environment regarding quality procedures and regulatory requirements in introducing products to manufacturing.
20. Ensure that Cook’s Code of Conduct is considered in all business matters carried out on Cook’s behalf.
Qualifications
21. Bachelor’s degree is desired, preferably in engineering or a related field and / or relevant experience.
22. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience is required.
23. Ability to use machine shop equipment (milling machines, lathes etc) is an advantage.
24. Ability to use a 3D Cad package such as Creo/Solidworks is required.
25. Knowledge of CE marking standards.
26. Knowledge of medical device quality standards/practices or similar regulated industry.
27. Good communication and inter-personal skills.
28. Proven problem-solving skills and High self-motivation.
29. Good computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
30. Excellent organisational and team building skills.
31. Willingness and availability to travel on company business.
