We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Schools team on a permanent contract basis.
This role is primarily based at our Dublin 1 offices, but we are pleased to offer a flexible remote working arrangement.
This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week.
You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.
What the Schools team doesWe provide all of Ireland's primary and post-primary schools (approx.
4,000 schools) with high-availability Internet and network-security services to more than 900,000 teachers and students.
Along with connectivity, the HEAnet Schools team provides a range of essential services to both primary and post-primary schools, including Internet content-filtering, IP address allocation & firewall services.
These essential services make the HEAnet Schools Network one of the largest proactively managed networks in the country.
To support these strategic initiatives and the portfolio of network services, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Network Engineer to join the Schools team.
Reporting to the Schools Network Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Schools Network.
What the Senior Networks Engineer doesWe look forward to welcoming a Senior Network Engineer to the Schools team who will be responsible for providing safe and secure Internet connectivity to all schools in Ireland.
The successful candidate will support the Schools core, access and CPE networks, troubleshooting network and provider issues as well as managing the core firewall and content filtering system.
The Schools Network includes over 4,000 devices delivering connectivity to over 900,000 users alongside a dedicated Schools NOC, which delivers second-level support to schools.
This role involves substantial client & vendor interaction and regular communications with telecoms network and network equipment providers.
Troubleshooting and problem resolution will be a core part of this role, as well as assisting in the testing of new and existing networks systems and providing documentation for all changes and systems deployed.
You will be responsible for network policies, documentation and long-term planning and design of the network.
Responsibilities:Contribute to the Network Planning and Development of HEAnet Schools core, access and CPE networks.Proactively seek opportunities to improve the provisioning and monitoring of the network and network services through automation.Implement and participate in network development projects, such as hardware upgrades, topology redesigns and network automation improvements.Assist other teams and serve as an escalation point for network-related issues.Investigate and evaluate new technologies and propose innovative solutions to problems.How we do itOur company values underpin how we do things in HEAnet.
