Occupational Therapist – CAMHS
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to join a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team in Mullingar. The successful candidate will provide specialized care for children and adolescents with ADHD and/or Mental Health Intellectual Disabilities (MHID). This role involves delivering evidence-based assessments, interventions, and multi-disciplinary care plans to support the developmental, emotional, and functional needs of service users and their families.

Key Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist – CAMHS
1. Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments tailored to ADHD and MHID, including sensory, functional, and behavioral evaluations.
2. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans focusing on enhancing daily functioning, emotional regulation, and skill development.
3. Support children and adolescents in achieving developmental milestones and improving their quality of life through evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
4. Provide psychoeducation and skills training for service users, parents, and caregivers.
5. Collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, speech and language therapists, and social workers.
6. Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and care planning sessions to ensure cohesive service delivery.
7. Contribute to the development of integrated care pathways for ADHD and MHID within CAMHS.
8. Offer tailored support and strategies to families and caregivers to enhance their understanding and management of ADHD and MHID.
9. Facilitate group workshops or individual sessions to build skills and resilience within the family unit.
10. Contribute to the development of CAMHS services in Mullingar, ensuring they align with national and organizational guidelines.
11. Assist in identifying gaps in service delivery and propose innovative solutions to improve access and outcomes.
12. Engage in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service evaluations.
13. Maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development through training, supervision, and attendance at relevant conferences and workshops.
14. Stay up-to-date with emerging evidence and best practices in occupational therapy, ADHD, and MHID.
15. Supervise and mentor junior staff or students as required.
Experience Requirements for Occupational Therapist – CAMHS
1. Degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
2. Registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist.
3. Experience as an Occupational Therapist, with at least 1 year in a paediatric or CAMHS setting.
4. Proven experience working with children and adolescents with ADHD and/or MHID would be beneficial.
5. Competency in conducting sensory integration assessments and interventions.
