WSP’s Land team in Ireland is seeking a Senior Land Consultant to join our Naas based team.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our multi-disciplinary service line within the Land Team in the delivery of land referencing, land acquisition, land access, formal consents, statutory orders, compensation agreements, and landowner management.
Our clients develop major highway, rail, energy, and renewable infrastructure projects impacting privately owned land. You will work as part of a team of Land Consultants assisting in liaison with landowners affected by development, obtaining appropriate consent, gaining access, and compensating them for the impact caused by the scheme.
As part of our team, you will support the delivery of land access and acquisition projects through the identification of land ownership, consultation with landowners, undertaking property valuation, assessing and negotiating compensation, combining skills in GIS, data management, and landowner engagement.
* Securing land rights for high profile, strategic infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK.
* Utilising statutory powers and other available mechanisms to acquire land, including CPO, Motorway Order, Vesting Order, Development Consent Order (DCO), Hybrid bill, Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) on behalf of WSP clients within the electricity, highways, rail, water, telecoms, gas, and renewable energy sectors.
* Preparation and quality assurance of technical documents related to the identification of land interests and rights, negotiation of access to land for surveys, consents, and acquisition of land rights.
* Negotiation of Heads of Terms to secure land for projects in a timely fashion utilising the appropriate mechanism.
* Liaising with landowners, land agents, auctioneers, legal representatives, planning authorities, key stakeholders, contractors, and clients.
* Work closely with the Land team and collaborate with engineering, environmental, and planning teams.
* Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams across a range of sectors and locations across Ireland and the UK.
* Develop efficient working practices and promote innovation in the team to provide industry-leading, best value services to our clients.
* Management and development of a team of early career professionals providing both technical training and career development support.
* Contribute to business development and the delivery of the business strategy.
* Ireland and UK travel required.
* Degree or equivalent experience in Agriculture, Land and Estate Management or a relevant discipline.
* Experience delivering land referencing, land access, landowner engagement services, and statutory processes on major infrastructure projects.
* Experience negotiating with landowners and knowledge of the legal process for the acquisition of wayleaves/easements/servitudes desirable.
* Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams across a range of sectors and locations across Ireland and the UK.
* Demonstrable experience of reducing land risk for clients and advising them on land-related matters throughout all stages of project lifecycles.
* Proven track record of the development of Orders and/or acquisition of consents and interests in land, and knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Experience of infrastructure development schemes, particularly in the electricity, road, gas, rail, and renewable energy sectors.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to communicate effectively with strong influencing and negotiating skills.
* Knowledge of the rural environment and farming practices would be desirable.
* Chartership or membership of a Professional body would be advantageous.
* A full driver’s licence is essential.
