Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our expanding environmental team in Sligo, Ireland. The successful candidate will work on the collection of field data and preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), Ecological Impact Assessment reports, and Appropriate Assessment reporting for large complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the existing Environmental Team on ecological and environmental aspects of diverse projects, including renewable energy, infrastructure, and private commercial projects.
* Coordinating, supervising, and mentoring other ecologists (in-house staff and external sub-contractors) to ensure safe and efficient delivery of work on time.
* Managing work schedules/resourcing, providing assistance, guidance, and technical review of other team members' work, and providing on-the-job training and feedback.
Role Requirements
* Provision of ecological input into desktop studies, scoping studies, site selection, site surveys, Ecological Impact Assessments, Appropriate Assessment reporting, and overseeing the implementation of construction mitigation measures.
* Project management tasks including financial management, producing fee proposals, and tendering for work.
Person Specification
* Rlevant third-level Degree (Level 8 or higher).
* A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience within the field of ecological consultancy.
* Knowledge of relevant wildlife policy and legislation, and its real-world application.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, Arc GIS mapping skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
* Holder of a survey license for at least one European Protected Species.
* Experienced in aquatic monitoring, surveying, and reporting.
