Position Overview:
The Trustee with Governance and Regulation Experience plays a crucial role on the Board of Trustees, providing expertise, guidance, and support in governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This role ensures that AVP adheres to legal and regulatory requirements, upholds the highest standards of governance, and mitigates risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide strategic guidance and assistance on governance matters to ensure the effective functioning of the Board and the organisation.
2. Review and update governance policies, procedures, and practices to align with best practices and legal requirements.
3. Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements applicable to non-profit organizations in Ireland.
4. Assist the Board on regulatory changes, potential risks, and compliance strategies to maintain the organization's integrity and reputation.
5. Actively participate in Board meetings, committee meetings, and strategic planning sessions, providing insights and expertise on governance and regulatory matters.
6. Engage with fellow Trustees, the Coordinator, and stakeholders to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct.
Qualifications:
1. Experience in governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management, preferably in the non-profit sector or related industry.
2. Knowledge of Irish laws, regulations, and governance frameworks applicable to non-profit organisations.
3. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
4. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
5. Commitment to the mission and values of Alternatives to Violence Project.
Term of Office:
The Trustee with Governance and Regulation Experience serves a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment for two additional terms.
Time Commitment:
Estimated 6 hours per month commitment, including Board meetings, committee meetings, and other relevant activities.
