About us
We're National Broadband Ireland and we're delivering the largest telecommunications project that Ireland has ever seen. We're designing, building and operating Ireland's new, high-speed wholesale broadband network under the National Broadband Plan. Our aim is to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.
The NBI™ network, using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment, will deliver high-speed broadband to over 1.1 million people and over 554,000 premises in Ireland. No matter how remote or rural, no town, village or community will be left behind. NBI will be responsible for the management of the new national broadband network for the next 25 years.

Key Objectives / Accountabilities:
NBI is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Engineer or Data Scientist who wants to jump in head-first and help build a mission-driven company from the ground up.
You are comfortable with a constantly changing environment. You are detail oriented, and you love efficiency and excellent service. You will directly contribute to the building of a state-of-the-art operations capability, working in the NBI Second Line Support team.
Ideally, you will have a strong IT background and domain expertise across two or more of Business & Operational Support Systems (BSS & OSS) and Network Management systems (NMS). Experience with Nokia/Alcatel Lucent systems would be an advantage.
You get the importance of teamwork and of developing a strong relationship with our Network Operations & Engineering teams as well as managing the performance of third-party vendors who will provide third-line support.
You will work with a diverse team of people - with ICT technology, systems and operational process expertise; and you will be responsible for delivering specialist Network Analytics Solutions.
Key deliverables
1. Design queries and use typical computer programs or scripting languages to support Operations on Data Analytics, drawing data from multiple Data Sources.
2. Build user interface applications for Operations Support teams, drawing data from IT back-end databases, using skills in various web development tools, programming languages and scripting languages.
3. Collect, analyse and document user requirements and assist or leads in determining the best programming solution.
4. Prepare user and technical documentation for the implementation, support, and running of new or modified systems; generating professional documentation and reports as required.
5. Assists users and peers with problem solving and mentor in areas of expertise.
6. Maintains a consistent, high-quality, customer-focused approach when conducting business and providing services to internal and external stakeholders.
7. To exploit and explore OSS applications for Operations Centre and Second Line application, to build and support Fibre Network Functions; with a capability on Nokia nodes preferred.
8. Ensure that strong relationships are built, managed and maintained within the company.
9. Drawing on your current skills, you aspire to be a senior professional, with the capability for creating and documenting solutions to requirements.
10. This role will be responsible for developing innovative, reusable web-based tools to compliment the OSS applications used in the operation of a fibre network. You will be expected to work with stakeholders to deliver changes in a planned and controlled manner with minimal impact to network services, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures and standards for incident and change management.
11. Demanding the highest standards from Engineering teams and taking appropriate action or escalations where necessary to improve process or data delivery.
Knowledge & Experience:

12. Over three years excellent experience in telco environments
13. Engineering, Computer science or Data Science/Analytics degree
14. HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery MySQL / relational databases
15. Git, Jenkins and SW version controls
16. Experience with Log management Splunk, ELK, LogDNA etc.
17. Multiple programming/scripting languages
18. API use across Postman and SOAP applications
19. Web development in a distributive environment using Python, Perl, HTML
20. Strong PHP experience
21. Project Management capabilities with ability to plan, initiate, monitor and implement projects within a team.
The ability to:
22. Contribute to NBI custom and off the shelf Vendor PHP applications
23. Provide simple client-side UX scripting (AJAX, notifications, alerts, navigation).
24. Assist in refactoring and migrating several old sites and libraries to modern object-oriented PHP
