Quantity Surveyor
Based in Dublin, our client is a specialist sub-contractor with extensive experience in the design, procurement, manufacture, and installation of large-scale building exteriors.
Job Purpose
To drive project profitability and enhance the construction process by actively engaging in procurement, cost management, and reporting. Foster strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best value.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting final costs and sales.
* Prepare and monitor project cash flow forecasts.
* Negotiate contract variations, ensuring timely submission and approval.
* Provide commercial guidance to project staff on contractual matters, reviewing and drafting correspondence as needed.
* Submit and negotiate project final accounts.
* Verify the commercial validity of sub-contractor tenders and contracts.
* Certify subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
* Maintain adherence to business commercial processes at the project level.
* Assist in developing and adhering to project purchasing targets and costing budgets.
* Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
* Communicate regularly with project staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure commercial controls are understood and implemented.
* Produce accurate reports in accordance with the business schedule.
* Monitor commercial project information, including labour, material, and sub-contractor costs, to ensure budget adherence.
* Forecast costs to ensure budgets are met.
* Supply relevant information to the Commercial Manager for review at specified intervals.
Requirements:
* HNC or B.Sc. degree in Quantity Surveying/Cost Management.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience as a quantity surveyor in a similar specialist contracting organisation.
* Strong commercial acumen, numeracy skills, risk awareness, and ability to accurately forecast costs and sales.
* Ability to multitask, self-motivate, and work flexibly as part of a team.
* Practical organisational skills and programme scheduling expertise.
* Capacity to provide both summarised and detailed reports on current activities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Project.
* Demonstrable experience with various forms of specialist subcontract documentation and contract types.
