Project Worker, RAS Housing Support Worker, Limerick
Contract: 1 Year, Fixed Term Contract
Location: Limerick
The purpose of this role is to provide support to tenants that are currently in the Rental Accommodation Scheme. The aim of this service is to provide alternative accommodation for RAS tenants that enables them to avail of a secure tenancy under Rental Accommodation Scheme guidelines & policies.
What you will do:
1. Work as part of the Rental Accommodation Scheme Team within Limerick City & County Council.
2. Carry out assessments on current or new RAS tenants that require new/alternative accommodation under Limerick City & County Council guidelines and request additional supports from relevant agencies.
3. Visit individuals in their local community and, where appropriate, in their own homes.
4. Establish links and network with local agencies, community groups, and services to enable tenants to sustain their tenancy.
5. Be aware of responsibilities regarding Child Protection and Welfare and have updated knowledge of relevant referral and notification procedures.
6. Work with a client-centred and non-judgemental approach, encouraging autonomy and independence.
7. Liaise regularly with the Line Manager regarding issues arising from engagement with tenants, landlords, and other relevant services.
8. Engage in regular supervision with the RAS Line Manager and Focus Ireland Project Leader.
9. Comply with all relevant Limerick City & County Council policies.
10. Maintain accurate records and report writing.
11. Work in close cooperation with other Limerick City & County Council Housing Departments.
12. Supervise and support other colleagues/staff when required.
13. Participate in the review, evaluation, and development of the Rental Accommodation Scheme.
14. Participate in relevant training and development courses.
15. Attend and contribute to team, section, and agency meetings when required.
16. Prepare regular monthly reports for supervision or as requested by the Line Manager.
17. Liaise with other Limerick City & County Council departments regarding organizational procedures and policies.
18. Work within the framework of the overall objectives of Limerick City & County Council.
19. Undertake other work assigned by the Line Manager.
20. The standard working week will be 37 hours. Limerick City & County Council reserves the right to alter working hours.
What you will need:
1. A third-level qualification to degree level in Social Care (e.g., Youth Work, Social Studies, Psychology, Addiction).
2. Proven extensive experience working in a Social Care setting.
3. Very good understanding of Child Protection and Welfare responsibilities.
4. Ability to carry out Client Assessments (e.g., Risk, Housing Needs Assessments).
5. Ability and willingness to work alone.
6. Ability to deal with challenging behaviour.
7. Willingness to develop professional skills as identified through supervision.
8. Own car and a full clean driving licence.
9. An understanding of Social Housing Supports available to clientele.
10. Advocate on behalf of clientele/tenants.
11. Experience of working within the Housing/Homeless Sector.
