We are currently seeking a highly motivated Data Protection & Compliance Officer to join our team.
Contract Type: Specified Purpose Contract.
(Minimum Contract term – one year).
Contract Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Salary Scale: The current salary scale for this post is €51,589 – €63,501 pro rata
per annum.
Salary scales are subject to LSI's (Long Service Increments).
Annual Leave Entitlement: 33 days pro rata per annum
Overview of the Post: The Data Protection & Compliance Officer post has a primary function within Enable Ireland's Governance and Compliance Framework, which is to lead, manage and audit Enable Ireland's Information Governance and Data Protection Programmes.
Overview of Duties & Responsibilities: • Lead and oversee our data protection framework, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other relevant legislation.
• Primary contact for internal and external queries related to data protection, Freedom of Information (FOI), and Access to Information on the Environment (AIE).
• Managing responses to the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and data subjects on issues, complaints, and breaches.
• Providing strategic advice to senior management on data protection legislation and best practices.
• Overseeing Subject Access Requests (SARs), FOI requests, and related processes.
• Developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and audit systems for compliance.
• Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and reviewing third-party contracts for GDPR compliance.
• Delivering training on data protection and FOI to staff.
• Promoting a culture of compliance across the organisation.
• Leading policy development, compliance projects, and IT initiatives related to data protection.
• Monitoring and reporting on key metrics such as breaches, SARs, and FOI activity.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in GDPR, strong communication skills, and experience in managing compliance frameworks.
The successful candidate will have:-
Essential Criteria: A minimum of 3 years' work experience within any of the following compliance management processes: data protection (e.g.
areas of data processing/data access request management/processing, breach response/processing etc) /regulatory compliance /risk / quality assurance/other areas relevant may be considered.
And A relevant 3rd level qualification in law /commerce /health/ social care / business /compliance administration or other areas relevant to the role.
Desirable Criteria: A professional qualification in regulatory compliance/ quality assurance/risk management systems.
