Job Title: Transport Planner (6-Month FTC)
Shift: Afternoon / Evening
Reporting to: Group Head of Transport
Role Overview
As a Transport Planner, you will support the Group Head of Transport in ensuring seamless and efficient transport operations across all business units. Your focus will be on performance analysis, route optimization, and process enhancements to drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze completed work from the previous day, evaluating timeframes and efficiency.
2. Identify instances of fleet idling and downtime.
3. Review drivers’ shift schedules against actual hours worked.
4. Compare planned vs. actual collection rates and tonnage.
5. Assess and optimize current REL routes (day and night).
6. Implement efficiency improvements in transport routes.
7. Minimize route redundancies while maintaining service quality.
8. Assist in developing and executing transport plans for peak seasons.
9. Support the Group Head of Transport in the customer onboarding process.
10. Track and report key performance metrics, providing data-driven recommendations.
11. Contribute to departmental initiatives and projects aimed at continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Impact
In this role, you will work closely with the REL Transport Manager to develop cost-effective and well-structured route plans that enhance productivity and service levels. Your contributions will directly support high customer service standards by ensuring collections are completed within agreed timelines.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to optimizing transport operations. You will play a key role in monitoring performance metrics and driving continuous improvements across the department.
