Independent Living Coordinator
* Grade V (Kerry Campus) (Part time fixed term contract initially to June hours per week) This position will be filled on a fixed term contract basis in accordance with the requirements of the Technological Universities Act 2018.
Overview:
The objective of this pilot project (January 2025 to June 2026) is to enhance course provision for students with intellectual disabilities at MTU.
The pilot will support future evidence-informed policy considerations in respect of the successful participation of students with intellectual disabilities in higher education.
The pilot at MTU will have 10 student places.
1.Minimum Requirements Minimum Level 7 degree in Social Care or related discipline Ability to work alone as well as under direction within a team.
Personal care and interpersonal skills Competent in Digital/ ICT skills Strong interpersonal communication skills Teamwork skills Interest in enhancement of educational experiences for All 2.Duties and Responsibilities The Independent Living Co-ordinator will: meet the student, their families and agency staff where relevant to identify specific individual needs (social, healthcare, independence) design individual student support plans where needed support programme team to work to apply the individual support plans drive a culture of independence and graduate readiness develop students self-advocacy support student engagement with university life beyond academic programme support individual students with planning and time management onsite and in work experience support staff development liaise with student family and agency staff with students permission where relevant support students transport needs facilitate personal student care needs if identified as needed encourage and facilitate where possible student engagement in university social activities thus promoting a socially inclusive model of university life contribute to the development and understanding of this role in a university setting work within MTU Child Protection Policy and Code of Behaviour for Working with Children and Vulnerable Persons ensure confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, their families and staff.
be aware of and make programme team aware of any specific medical or care plans in place for students by third parties.
commit to and engage in continued professional development (CPD) appropriate to the post which may be assigned from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office.

Terms of Appointment:
Hours of work three days a week (programme runs three days a week January 2025- June 2026(note contract will end in June 2025 and recommence in September 2025 to June 2026)
Maximum 21 hours per week Annual Leave 25 days full time post.(will be adjusted according to hours) Salary:
