The Role
The Assistant Accounts Officer will report to the Accounts Officer and will be responsible for preparing and assessing budget, revenue, expense, payroll and journal entries, and other accounting documents.
Key Functional Responsibilities:
1. Preparation of weekly payroll
2. Monitoring of the PO system to ensure all POs are processed in a timely manner
3. Data entry of sales and purchase invoices
4. Data entry of all receipts and payments
5. Maintenance and reconciliation of creditors and debtors’ ledgers
6. Ensure all purchases are acquired in compliance with the Procurement Policy
7. Processing of the monthly accounts payable
8. Accounts receivable control
9. Processing of employee monthly travel expenses
10. Establish and maintain cash controls and monitor cash reserves
11. Prepare and reconcile bank statements
12. Confirm monthly totals on ROS and process payment
13. Supporting the Accounts Officer in the preparation of monthly management accounts
14. Supporting the Accounts Officer in the preparation for the annual audit of the financial statements
15. Assist with the preparation of the year-end reports for stakeholders
16. Assist with the annual budget
17. Development, implementation and monitoring of financial policies and procedures
18. Making sure the organization is compliant with current taxation legislation
