Currently employing 140 staff across two Cork facilities, they are now seeking a Mechanical R&D Engineer to join their expanding Research & Development team at their Little Island plant.
Your New Role - Mechanical R&D Engineer As a key member of the R&D department, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and testing next-generation cooling solutions for data centers.
Reporting to the R&D Director, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge innovation while collaborating with a cross-functional team.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop innovative cooling solutions for data centers, leveraging your expertise in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
Support production and implementation phases by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance.
Participate in design reviews, ensuring that solutions meet both performance and sustainability requirements.
Work closely with the R&D lab team to perform performance testing and validation on prototypes, documenting results and refining designs accordingly.
Assist with prototype builds to gain hands-on insights into design effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

What We're Looking For To excel in this role, you should have: A third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within an OEM environment.
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and other relevant design software.
A solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
Experience working with HVAC components and systems.
Hands-on experience with prototype development, testing methodologies, and data analysis.
Knowledge of sheet metal, piping systems, and process cooling water systems design.
