We are looking for a General manager to support our Persons in Charge in their role, providing leadership and support to our care and nursing staff whilst maintaining the highest quality of individualised person-centred care for our residents.
The successful candidate will together with the Person in Charge, ensure a best practice approach to all aspects of clinical leadership ensuring that the Nursing Home is well managed and runs smoothly as well as working closely with the Regional Operations Manager.
The successful candidate will have previous experience as an General Manager (NH), Operations Manager, Person in Charge or Director of Nursing and proven track record in building and maintaining relationships and strong communication skills at all levels, the ability to foster excellent teamwork, have demonstrated leadership characteristics and have and good knowledge of HIQA standards.
Role Overview:
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for supporting the clinical and operational management of Esker Ri Nursing Home with a strong focus on providing excellent service to residents, their families and service users.
This will be achieved by ensuring there are consistent standards and practices both business and clinical, people are engaged and managed through strong leadership and teamwork and the environment enhances the quality of life for all our residents.
The Role:
The General Manager will collaborate with the Person in Charge in setting and driving organisational vision and Nursing Home vision & strategy.
They will contribute to the implementation of strategy at a local level and ensure that goal setting, performance management and annual operating planning are effectively implemented.
The General Manager will contribute to the continued development of a highly inclusive culture ensuring all employees are connected to the delivery of the Evergreen Care vision of creating a Home from Home for our residents while ensuring that Esker Ri is a place our employees want to work at.
The General manager will contribute to occupancy and resident outcomes by ensuring organisational targets are met or exceeded while ensuring cost efficiency where practicable Role & Responsibilities In conjunction with the PIC oversee the clinical practice in the home, ensuring that care is delivered at the highest standard and in accordance with the National Quality Standards.
Ensure that there is active engagement between all staff and management to ensure that residents have access to appropriate therapeutic interventions as required.
Ensure that nursing and care staff are appropriately engaged in the delivery of care and that they receive clinical supervision and support as required.
Contribute to the oversight of Clinical Governance and the quality improvement agenda.
Foster a culture of health and safety awareness in Esker Ri, ensuring that all staff are aware of risks and able to identify and report hazards.
Monitor the work of the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring response and follow-up on risks/hazards identified and agreed action plans.
Ensure that there are site-specific emergency plans in place and that staff are aware of emergency procedures.
Monitor the quality of the fire safety education and preparedness.
Evaluate the content and quality of fire training and ensure that regular fire drills take place outside of formal fire training sessions.
Provide guidance, coaching and development to the staff and leadership.
Act as line manager to all non-clinical services (Admin, Household, Catering etc) Provide guidance, coaching and development to staff.
Ensure that there is effective leadership within the home.
Support the PIC in the achievement of his/her objectives.
Assist him/her in managing workload and in staff management issues.
Promote a culture of respectful communication in an open and transparent environment, where all staff feel valued and that they contribute positively to the running of the centre as part of a cohesive team.
Ensure that there are effective communication methods with staff in the home, including handovers between shifts, mid-shift meetings, regular staff meetings, annual employee surveys.
Collaborate with PIC & HR/Ops in assessing the educational and training needs of staff.
Assess and monitor the quality of the catering, housekeeping, cleaning, Admin and laundry services to the home to ensure that they are meeting the needs of the residents and also the staff Responsible, with the PIC for the operating costs of the Nursing Home ensuring the operating budget is achieved particularly in the areas of occupancy, staffing, finances Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders and referral sources.
Appropriately engage with external stakeholders and regulatory authorities charged with the enforcement of legislation and oversight of standards/regulations compliance (i.e.
HIQA, EPA, HAS, EHO)
Requirements:
* 10+ years management experience with a minimum of 5 years at senior management level in a large, complex organisation (experience in Financial Operations or Budegetary Management is preferable).
* Educated to degree level in a related discipline.
* Good knowledge of data analysis and delivering to KPI's.
* Problem-solving mindset.
* Have an understanding and experience of operating in a regulated environment.
* Excellent Leadership, Organisational and Communication skills & Understanding of HR functions including Recruitment and retention, HR Policies & Performance Management
* Sound decision making ability and results driven.
