Senior Analyst - Decarbonisation Job Description
About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Analyst to join our Decarbonisation Division. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform work on policy, economic, technical, and regulatory activities of the Commission.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and deliver projects within the energy-related area as delegated by the manager;
* Research and prepare information and decision papers for the Commission;
* Manage public consultations on regulatory policy issues;
* Procure and manage external consultants to provide expert input to projects and decisions of the Commission.
* Maintain awareness of policy developments and best practice within the energy industry and related industries both in Ireland and internationally.
* Deal with internal and external stakeholders in a positive manner to further CRU objectives;
* Engage with NI, GB or EU counterparts on all-island or EU policy or market developments, as required;
* Mentor Analysts and Graduate Analysts within the Commission and conduct knowledge transfer sessions to share knowledge, expertise and learnings;
* Work as a member of a team and lead specific project teams, as required;
* Carry out such other functions as may be required from time to time to fulfill business objectives of the CRU and as appropriate to the grade.
Qualifications & Skills:
Essential Requirements:
* Honours degree, NFQ Level 8 equivalent, in a relevant discipline (including but not limited to energy, economics, engineering, science, law, finance, regulatory policy, business, accountancy).
* Minimum of 3 years' experience working in the energy sector in the area of renewables, electricity, gas or other relevant role.
Desirable Requirements:
* Ability to take qualitative and quantitative information and analyse/challenge it in a constructive manner.
* Experience of drafting documentation to communicate complex issues/information in a clear and concise manner.
* Knowledge/experience of existing and developing policy frameworks in the regulated energy sector.
* Experience working in a sector-specific regulator or other governmental organisation.
* Familiarity with the national/EU legal framework under which the CRU operates, including those which are under development / being progressed (e.g. the EU Renewable Energy Directives, the EU Hydrogen and Gas Market Decarbonisation Package, etc.).
The Package:
* Starting salary of €58,901
* Salary scale: €58,901 - €74,279
* Candidates should note that entry will be at the minimum point of the scale.
* The rate of remuneration may be adjusted in line with Government pay policy.
* Candidates should note that different pay and conditions may apply if, immediately prior to appointment, the appointee is a serving civil or public servant.
* Salary increments will be awarded annually, subject to satisfactory performance.
