Abbott has been operating in Ireland since 1946 and serves the Irish market with a diverse range of healthcare products including diagnostics, diabetes care, medical devices and nutritional products. In Ireland, Abbott currently employs about 6,000 people across ten sites located in Dublin, Donegal, Clonmel, Cootehill, Galway, Kilkenny, Longford and Sligo.
The successful candidate will be based in the CFS Sligo office in Carbury Point, Sligo and will report to the CFS Sligo Financial Controller.
Purpose of Role
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the CFS Sligo Financial Controller with a range of accounting, internal control and administration activities along with other statutory reporting requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the internal control environment for in scope entities is operating as intended and that any improvements are implemented in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for ensuring quality and on time completion and submission of grant applications and statutory/regulatory returns for sites and entities in scope.
- Support delivery of strategic projects including activities supporting Revenue Cooperative Compliance Framework (CCF) requirements.
- Support delivery of statutory accounts aligned with corporate, country/legal entity timelines.
- Build relationships and interact with key stakeholders to provide support, technical expertise and guidance.
- Liaise with Internal and External Auditors as required.
- Support the team's efforts on continuous improvement, and liaise with CFS EMEA hub to ensure end to end process improvement opportunities are identified and implemented
- Develop new, and improve existing processes and systems as required to ensure more efficient delivery of value-add information to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the CFS Sligo team to perform ad hoc and other special projects assignments, as required.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualified Accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance desirable
- 3+ years relevant experience in a complex global environment – preferably within a multi-currency, US GAAP based financial close environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
- SAP or other major ERP Systems experience is desirable
- Internal controls / Internal audit experience within a multi-national environment desirable
- Hands-on and self-starter mentality
- Able to manage responsibilities independently
- Excellent financial analysis skills with ability to summarise data into high quality deliverables.
- Strong computer skills especially MS Office & Power BI.
Minimum language skills
- Fluent in English essential
