Job Description: Political Assistant
Overview
The Political Assistant plays a key front-of-house role for newly elected Oireachtas Member in Dublin. This individual must be highly organised, possess excellent communication skills, have a passion for politics, and demonstrate a commitment to good public service.
Key Responsibilities
Office Management
* Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence with constituents, ensuring respect, efficiency, and discretion.
* Manage the Oireachtas Member's diary, scheduling meetings, events, and constituency engagements.
* Maintain an efficient filing system compliant with GDPR guidelines.
* Prepare and format documentation for constituent queries and parliamentary activities.
* Ensure seamless operation of constituency and parliamentary functions.
Public Engagement
* Liaise with constituents via email, phone, and in-person meetings to address their queries.
* Organize meetings, events, public engagements, and constituency activities to support the Oireachtas Member's work.
* Interact with public agencies, the voluntary sector, and other stakeholders.
* Collaborate with the local Fianna Fáil organization to maintain a strong presence in the constituency.
* Coordinate with party headquarters and Leinster House on behalf of the Oireachtas Member as required.
* Engage with Government Ministers and party representatives when necessary.
Communications & Social Media
* Manage the Oireachtas Member's social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement across platforms.
* Draft press releases and speeches with the support of the Oireachtas Member and Fianna Fáil Press & Research Offices.
* Prepare newsletters, email updates, and other communications for constituents and stakeholders.
* Conduct research for debates, Oireachtas Committee meetings, and media appearances with the support of Fianna Fáil Press & Research Offices.
Requirements
* Possess a passion for politics and a commitment to public service.
* Excel in written and verbal communication.
* Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of social media platforms and experience with digital communications tools.
* Show leadership skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Demonstrate high levels of discretion and trustworthiness.
