Health & Safety Graduate Role
Bord na Móna is seeking a Health & Safety Graduate to join their team on a 2-year fixed-term contract. This role will be based in Boora and will report to the Head of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS).
The successful candidate will support the corporate Safety Management System, actively learn from peers, provide SMS administration assistance, research, and prepare for site visits and key findings from site visits. The role will also involve operational control initiatives support, SMS Documentation, project support, and SMS communications.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:
* Supporting projects and initiatives arising from the corporate safety strategy plan, assisting in data compilation and analysis to determine trends, and suggesting areas for improvement/initiatives for consideration on future strategy planning.
* Providing Safety Administration support, including training records, filing, minutes, draft safety plans, risk assessments, and safety statements. Reviewing and revising existing safety documentation.
* Actively contributing to and promoting BnM H&S Awareness campaigns, programmes, and competitions. Providing support for operational control initiatives, such as driving for work, working at heights, confined spaces, first aid, and PPE. Staying up-to-date with relevant legislative changes and advising on changes to practices.
* Supporting the SMS communications plan, including drafting alerts, updating internal online platforms, maintaining physical notice boards, and weekly reporting drafts.
* Carrying out H&S Inspections as requested.
* Developing relationships with key stakeholders, including colleagues, supervisors, managers, training providers, and others.
* Obtaining and sharing knowledge and information to support organisational SMS improvements.
* Demonstrating Leadership Standards and Behaviours for Success, being a safety champion, and leading by example.
* All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and members of the public using the premises.
* Proactively participating in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's, objectives.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, knowledge, and attributes:
* A Level 8 Degree in Occupational Health & Safety Discipline.
* A full driving license.
The estimated salary for this role is €25,000 - €30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
