#SETUW The Post Doctoral Researcher will be part of a larger research team (4 PhD students and 1 MSc student; 7 academics (Ireland and Denmark)) embarking on the fourth Study (Studies 4A and 4B) of a larger project that is scaling a community-based football initiative (Football Cooperative) to 60 sites across Ireland and beyond from 2025-2027. The FC initiative provides social 'pick up football' games for men aimed at reducing social isolation among men and improving their overall health and wellbeing. Since 2021, FC has been the subject of a feasibility study for scale up (Studies 1 & 3) and an implementation science study to develop an implementation strategy to deliver the FC initiative at scale for the benefit of population health (Study 2). Specifically, the Studies 4A and 4B will adopt; Study 4A: An implementation science approach to investigate the processes of replicating the FC initiative at scale with a view to identifying implementation barriers and facilitators, and addressing potential barriers to implementation thereby ensuring fidelity and equitable benefit for participants across sites. Study 4B: A quasi-experimental repeated measures controlled design within a social return on investment (SROI) framework to assess the efficacy of the FC initiative when scaled to a) determine the social value of the FC games at scale, b) the biopsychosocial health impact the FC games at scale, c) the reach of FC games at scale and d) the health economic impact of FC games at scale. The findings from these studies will inform the fidelity of delivery and equitable benefit for participants of the FC initiative when it's rolled out nationally and its translation internationally.
