Job Purpose
Assisting in the cleanliness of the kitchen while adhering to all food safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Personal Presentation
1. Ensuring that one's personal demeanour, attitudes and interactions are at all times professional in approach.
2. Presented in the full company uniform at all times.
3. Maintaining a high degree of personal hygiene.
4. Presented in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where applicable.
5. Practice and promote Nursing home guidelines on hand washing and Infection Control to protect oneself and others.
6. Adherence to guidelines on Absenteeism, Lateness and Sickness.
Kitchen
1. Ensuring the dishwasher and surrounding area is clean and used efficiently.
2. Adherence to the safe storage and use of all food and cleaning products.
3. Compliance with HACCP guidelines as directed by the Head Chef ensuring all work practices are in line with regulations.
4. Meeting agreed timelines in ensuring all crockery is washed and available on time for meal times.
5. Ensure all the equipment is cleaned to a high standard as directed.
6. Ensuring waste is to a minimum.
Health and Safety Awareness
1. Adherence to precautions identified in the infection control policy.
2. Attending to any spillages to avoid any accidents.
3. Assisting in the disposal of clinical waste in line with Nursing home policy.
4. Application of 'Manual Handling' Techniques as trained.
5. Compliance with fire safety regulations.
6. Compliance with the Safety statement.
7. Ensuring the work area is a safe environment for residents and visitors.
8. Familiar with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2005.
9. Compliance with H.A.C.C.P guidelines and all 'Food Safety' best practices.
10. Adherence to all national and local health and safety policies and guidelines.
11. Carry out practical duties only when competent to do so.
12. Assisting in the hygiene of equipment including all dining room and catering equipment.
13. Reporting any defects in equipment.
Communication and Relationships
1. Directing any queries regarding residents' welfare to the Nursing staff.
2. Working as part of the team.
3. Attending Department meetings as required.
4. Aware of all internal memos and directives by management.
Administration and Continuous Improvement
1. Attending mandatory training and other training as directed.
2. Attending probationary meetings in the first 6 months of service with the nursing home.
3. Attending six monthly appraisals with the Line Management.
4. Aware of all policies and any changes or amendments that are made to the nursing home policies.
5. Contributing to own personal development and attending training and development where needed.
