Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative technologies. Our company is an award-winning technology firm that specializes in extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light source design, leveraging patented IP through the creation of a unique lab-scale soft x-ray imaging microscope.
This microscope generates high-resolution 3D images of the internal structure of biological cells, and our products and services cater to a global market of disease and drug research organizations.
We are looking to expand our organization with additional product development staff who are eager to grow their careers as the company grows.
The role of Mechanical Design Engineer offers the opportunity to fully employ and develop your skillset while designing very high precision electro-mechanical/optical assemblies that operate in a vacuum environment.
You will have the chance to contribute to delivering first-of-its-kind technology and implement meaningful design changes as we progress with product commercialization.
You will work in a multidisciplinary environment and have a mix of skills with a strong foundation in solid mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials.
Responsibilities:
* Design CE-marked, precision mechanical equipment for a laboratory environment
* Analyze problems and associated root cause analyses
* Ensure engineering documentation meets requirements and strict timelines
* Generate validation/testing programs of designs
* Undertake continuous improvement activities
* Module/System construction and testing
* On-site systems integration and commissioning at collaborator sites worldwide
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
* 2 years of experience in a relevant design environment
* Hands-on interest in mechanical engineering through hobby and extracurricular activities
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Appreciation for how components are machined in practice
* Familiarity with 3D CAD applications (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo/Pro/E, NX)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Possession of practical machining experience, knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and competence in Finite Element Analysis
