Data Centre Facility Manager, Data Center Engineering Operations

We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
We are seeking an energetic Data Center Area Manager to serve as a technical resource and leader within Amazon data centers. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The Data Center Area Manager is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center.
This role acts as Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data centre facility equipment including electrical support equipment and mechanical equipment.
Physical Requirements:
1. Walk jobsites in uneven terrain
2. Work at heights and from ladders
3. Regularly lift and/or move up to 22 kilograms; and participate in group lifts for 23 kilograms or more.
4. Respond to off hour emergency calls.
5. Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.
Key job responsibilities:
1. Oversee all aspects of the data centre's critical physical infrastructure.
2. Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career.
3. Engage in improvement projects and drive them from conception to completion.
4. Coordinate daily with a multitude of third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
5. Effectively manage the operations budget and expenditures.
Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance.
Minimum Requirements:
1. An excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical Data Centre Operations.
2. Proven track record of people management and developing teams.
3. 5+ years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
4. 3+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.
