Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team in designing, building, and commissioning industrial equipment. This role requires a strong background in electrical design, PLC programming, robotics programming, and the commissioning of automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Design:
o Work with project teams to review feasibility and estimate cost/timelines based on user requirements specifications for custom equipment.
o Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics using CAD software (e.g., EPLAN).
o Specify and manage procurement of required components.
o Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
2. PLC Programming:
o Develop, test, and implement PLC programs (e.g., Omron).
o Create user-friendly HMI interfaces to monitor and control equipment.
o Troubleshoot and optimize PLC programs to enhance system performance.
3. Robotics Programming:
o Program and integrate industrial robots (e.g., ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa) into automated systems.
o Configure robotic systems for specific applications, including path programming and tool integration.
o Ensure safe and efficient operation of robotics systems.
4. Commissioning:
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the commissioning phase.
o Support the installation, setup, and testing of equipment through to commercial ramp.
o Provide training and support to end-users on the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
5. Collaboration and Documentation:
o Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure seamless project execution.
o Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including population of technical file as part of CE certification for equipment.
o Participate in design reviews and suggest improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical design and/or controls engineering for industrial equipment.
* Proven expertise in PLC and robotics programming.
* Proficiency in Sysmac Studio, IEC 61131 compliant PLC programming, and control system design using EPLAN.
* Familiarity with CE Standards and demonstrated leadership or collaborative experience within teams.
