The Opportunity
Glanbia is a public Company listed on the Dublin and London stock exchanges. Investor Relations (“IR”) is responsible for the communication of all financial results as well business model to the investor community. IR leads the engagement process for Glanbia with its institutional investors and potential investors. This results in the completion of over 250 one to one meetings or calls a year as well as presentations delivered at investor conferences globally, typically over 12 per annum. Key to the role is being able to assimilate data from across the Group rapidly and write up results announcements and presentations. Finally IR has access to significant public research data on other listed Companies and has to provide regular updates to the Glanbia Executive Team and Board on Glanbia’s share price performance and drivers as well as relevant information from publicly listed peers and competitors. The IR team sits within Group Finance and works closely with the Glanbia CEO, CFO, Business Unit CEOs and CFOs as well as the central finance team and segmental strategy teams.
The Investor Relations Director, reporting into the Group Secretary and Head of Investor Relations will lead the execution of Glanbia’s investor relations programme to ensure consistent, accurate information is provided on a timely basis to investors, analysts and the Company’s leadership team. This is a high-profile position, acting as the Company’s primary point of contact on performance and business strategies for current and prospective investors and all our internal and external programme stakeholders.
You will be responsible for connecting with investors and be an ambassador for Glanbia. You will understand buy-side interaction with sell-side analysts, their needs and answer their questions about Glanbia’s past & guided performance. You will draw on strong financial and communication expertise in this role to work across our business, markets and regions to understand results and key drivers. You will need to always be mindful of the disclosure requirements of a public company in all interactions with third parties and provide guidance on this to other Glanbia employees in any interactions they may have with the investor community. You will also need to understand and provide a capital markets point of view to the Glanbia Disclosure Committee on any particular piece of information which is being considered “inside information” and therefore merits a public disclosure. You will work closely with the Company’s corporate brokers and be able to distil their advice to the Company.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute our IR strategy by leading the IR Team and managing day to day operations.
2. Establish strong relationships with, and act as the primary contact point for, analysts, fund managers, brokers and institutional shareholders (current and potential). Continually seek to develop and expand the investor base and broker coverage consistent with the IR strategy.
3. Be a trusted advisor and partner for our Group Executive Team, Board and senior management teams.
4. Accurately and effectively develop, manage and evolve corporate messages related to performance, strategy, sustainability and market trends for our external stakeholders.
5. Manage and coordinate the full year, half year and quarterly results reporting processes including drafting of results announcements, preparation of presentations and provision of supporting financial/market information.
6. Plan, organise and attend investor meetings, investor road shows and capital markets days. Prepare presentations to accompany these meetings.
7. Work collaboratively with the Group Corporate Communications team in areas such as content management for the Glanbia corporate website, preparation of the Glanbia Annual Report and Sustainability Report.
8. Act as a source of market intelligence for the Group Executive Team and Board. This relates to trading and performance of Glanbia shares, but also to broader market information and the financial and operational performance of competitors, customers and suppliers via publicly available broker research
The Skills you will bring to the team
9. 8+ years’ experience covering at least one of the following - finance, accounting, equity analysis, M&A/corporate finance/transaction services, asset management or strategy. Preferably, a number of those years spent in Professional Services, brokerage, investment banking or investor relations role in a PLC environment.
10. Minimum of undergraduate qualification in a related field and a relevant professional qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA and or CFA/MBA
11. Prior sector experience advantageous or experience working across a number of industries and working in highly regulated markets
12. Excellent financial analysis skills including the ability to critically assess, distil and articulate the value drivers of a business. Knowledge of financial modelling techniques and valuation methods used by analysts and investors.
13. Knowledge of, and interest in, stock markets including the macro themes in the markets, the main asset classes and the role of the various stakeholders within financial markets.
14. Strong commercial acumen and applies sound judgment in decision making. Proven ability to understand overall business objectives and work within a growth-focused business.
15. Demonstrate agility and ability to get things done in a fast paced environment, effectively handling multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities.
16. Strong attention to detail to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
17. Strong communication style – with excellent verbal and written English and a logical, structured, clear format. Capable of quickly engaging and influencing audiences of all levels. Can appropriately challenge senior business stakeholders. Operate within the clear disclosure requirements of a regulated public company.
18. International travel required – up to 30% approximately.
