Main Purpose of Role:
The Environmental Advisor will play a crucial role in ensuring that our construction projects comply with environmental regulations and company standards. The Advisor will report directly to the Senior Environmental Advisor.
Role Duties:
1. Assisting in maintenance of the Environmental Management System and to ensure continued compliance with ISO14001.
2. Developing Tender Stage Environmental Responses and Environmental Plans for submission.
3. Apply for the relevant consents and licenses regarding environmental issues on our projects.
4. Develop and maintain Project Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans etc. and ensure that relevant controls / requirements are included in all project documentation.
5. Implement environmental policies and procedures in line with current legislation and Murphy standards.
6. Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits for construction projects.
7. Advise project teams on environmental issues, including waste management, resource efficiency, and energy use.
8. Monitor and report on environmental performance and initiatives.
9. Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
10. Liaise with regulatory bodies (EPA, Inland Fisheries etc), our clients and other project stakeholders on environmental matters.
11. Provide training and support to staff on environmental issues (Spill response etc.).
12. Promote sustainable construction practices and technologies within the company.
13. Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation as required.
14. Collaborate with other departments to integrate sustainability into all aspects of project planning and execution.
15. Assisting with the production and issue of monthly KPI statistics.
16. Keeping up to date with changes in environmental legislation and construction industry guidance.
17. Carrying out Environmental Inspections through the Contract and ensuring that all actions raised are closed out in a timely manner.
18. Investigating, logging and monitoring of Environmental Incidents and Non-conformances.
19. Providing advice to project Teams and responding to queries or correspondence on environmental issues.
20. Identifying significant environmental impacts for projects and helping set-up projects to include appropriate controls are in place.
21. Obtain Waste Permits/ Exemptions for Sites as required.
22. Ensure all environmental records are kept and readily available for external auditing.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Relevant 3rd level qualification in environmental.
2. Minimum of 3 years relevant experience on civil engineering/construction sites.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with one or more teams.
4. Good written and spoken communication abilities.
5. Good IT skills with a high attention to detail.
6. A flexible and proactive approach.
7. Demonstrate leadership skills.
