We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Stock Control Manager to join our clients growing team in the DIY retail sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail stock management, with a particular focus on fast-moving consumer goods, commercial sales, and forecasting. The role is designed for a proactive individual who can manage both the commercial and retail aspects of our business, ensuring efficient stock control, accurate forecasting, and effective supplier management.Key Responsibilities:Commercial DivisionWork closely with the commercial division to manage the flow of stock for a wide range of fast-moving products.Assist the sales team in ensuring stock availability, accuracy, and efficient stock movement.Tailor stock orders and manage product specifications, ensuring the timely introduction of new products and phasing out of older lines.React swiftly to stock needs and trends, collaborating with internal teams to streamline the product replenishment process.Retail Side of the BusinessOversee the open-to-buy process, ensuring effective purchasing from suppliers and maximising discounts while balancing stock levels.Analyse sales data to identify trends and proactively manage aged stock, ensuring quick action to minimize losses and optimise stock turnover.Provide data-driven insights to the sales team and eCommerce division to enhance overall business performance.Work with the retail team to clear stock lines that are not performing and ensure the smooth removal of outdated stock from the business.Team ManagementLead and mentor a team of 2 stock control staff, each responsible for managing relationships with our preferred suppliers in Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, and the UK.Ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation and logistics processes for stock importation.Foster a collaborative working environment, ensuring clear communication and efficient coordination between departments.Stock Management & ReportingManage a detailed stock file and oversee regular stock takes and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy.Provide regular stock reports, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.Support supplier negotiation meetings, providing data insights and potentially leading discussions in the future.Forecasting & IT SystemsWork closely with the retail team to develop strong, data-driven forecasts for future stock needs.Utilise advanced Microsoft Excel skills to analyse stock levels, sales data, and supplier performance.Implement IT systems and processes that streamline stock control and improve overall operational efficiency.Key Skills & Qualifications:Proven experience in stock control management, ideally within the retail industry (DIY retail experience preferred).High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and generate meaningful insights.Strong background in supplier negotiation and cost-effective logistics management.Experience in managing stock takes, reconciliations, and inventory audits.Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments (commercial, sales, eCommerce).Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, reacting quickly to emerging trends and stock needs.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, “can-do” attitude.Experience with retail forecasting and stock management systems is a plus.To apply send your CV to jobs@peoplegroup.ie, through our website www.peoplegroup.ieFor more information on this role call 01 661 9636Location: DublinSalary: CompetitiveJob Ref: 9408BF
