Resident Medical Officer (2 year fixed term contract)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Resident Medical Officer (Predominantly St Jarlaths Ward for HSE Frail/Elderly and Rehabilitation) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway, Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.
This position has been a steppingstone for some towards their goal of entering the training schemes for Rehabilitation HST or Geriatric Consultancy. St Jarlaths Ward accommodates HSE patients transferred from GUH under the care of specialist in Geriatrics Medicine.
Job Purpose:
The Medical Registrar plays an important role in the delivery of acute medical care services, and liaises with the Consultant and hospital staff, including nursing staff and other health professionals in providing quality patient care.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Daily ward rounds
2. Assessment of patients transferred from the acute hospital setting to St Jarlaths Ward to start their rehabilitation
3. Contributing to the weekly Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings to optimise the rehabilitation process

Ideal Candidate:
* Registered with the Medical Council of Ireland
* MRCPI Qualified or in process of qualification
* Specific interest in Geriatric/Rehabilitation medicine
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a quality service
* Personally, and professionally accountable for patient care
* Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
* Flexible approach to work patterns – 8-12 Hour Shifts up to 39 Hours Per Week
* Ability to document accurately with excellent attention to detail
Essential Qualifications:
* Full registration in the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Irish Medical Council.
* Satisfactory post-graduate training and experience in the medical profession.
* Membership of the College of Physicians is desirable.
