Senior HSS Advisor – Ireland & Northern Ireland
Location: Cork or Tullamore
Our client is currently in need of a Senior HSS Advisor. This role will play a key part in supporting project teams, advising on all aspects of HSS, and driving continuous improvement in safety standards. Reporting to the Country HSS Manager, this position requires regular travel to project sites. The Health, Safety, and Security (HSS) Department ensures robust HSS management across all project phases while implementing best practices throughout our operations.
The business area is responsible for the development, ownership, and execution of wind, solar, and grid infrastructure projects across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing expert HSS guidance and support to project managers, employees, subcontractors, and suppliers from project development to operational handover.
* Promoting a strong HSS culture within project teams, including leading safety-focused project kick-offs.
* Identifying and reporting HSS risks, KPIs, and trends, while recommending improvements.
* Developing EPC HSS Management Plans and related documentation in line with corporate standards.
* Reviewing and assessing HSS documentation submitted by subcontractors.
* Conducting internal audits and site inspections, documenting findings, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
* Ensuring contractors comply with approved HSS management plans and regulatory requirements.
* Reporting incidents and dangerous occurrences, leading thorough investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
* Participating in HSS coordination and site meetings to maintain alignment across teams.
* Preparing and submitting monthly KPI reports to HSS and Business Unit Managers.
* Managing site start-up meetings and onboarding for new contractors.
* Leading and rolling out monthly HSS campaigns across multiple projects.
* Conducting risk assessments and preparing access protocols for development projects.
* Coordinating with PSDP/PD, OE, and PSCS/PC to ensure compliance across all projects.
* Ensuring safety file requirements are met before project handover.
* Implementing and promoting company incentive programs related to HSS.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree/Higher Diploma in Health & Safety or equivalent qualification.
* Proven experience in HSS management within the construction industry.
* In-depth knowledge of Irish HSS legislation and Construction Regulations (UK CDM Regulations knowledge is desirable).
* Experience working with HSS Management Systems.
* Previous experience on large-scale energy projects.
* Knowledge of HV projects (substations and/or transmission lines) is an advantage.
* Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Ability to prepare high-quality audits and HSS reports.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently.
* A proactive team player who can drive HSS improvement initiatives.
* Flexibility to travel regularly as required.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
