A leading consultancy specializing in sustainable infrastructure, environmental planning, and renewable energy solutions is looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to join its Energy team. This firm supports a variety of renewable energy projects, including offshore and onshore wind, large-scale solar PV, biomass, and micro-hydro power. In addition to energy-related work, the company also provides planning, design, and project management services for major infrastructure developments.
The Role
This position offers an opportunity to lead and expand the consultancy’s Energy & Planning division while working on high-impact renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will contribute to project management, environmental assessments, and preliminary infrastructure design. The role is available in multiple office locations, with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading and overseeing the preparation of technical reports and planning documents
* Managing design workflows and ensuring seamless coordination with project teams
* Preparing and reviewing tenders, proposals, and technical submissions
* Providing mentorship and management support for junior engineers and team members
* Ensuring all work aligns with industry regulations, health & safety standards, and quality assurance protocols
* Engaging with clients, stakeholders, and external partners to drive project success
* Collaborating closely with internal teams across various disciplines
Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
* 12+ years of industry experience in infrastructure and energy projects
* Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
* Proven track record in project management and preliminary civil design, particularly in the renewable energy sector (preferred but not essential)
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Experience liaising with external stakeholders, clients, and contractors
* Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team environment
* Full driving license required
