Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Graveyard caretakers, or cemetery caretakers, have a variety of responsibilities centered around maintaining the cemetery and ensuring that it remains a respectful and peaceful place. Some of their main duties include:
1. Grounds Maintenance: This includes mowing lawns, trimming trees and bushes, removing debris, and ensuring that the cemetery grounds are clean and presentable. They also take care of flower beds or any landscaping features.
2. Record Keeping: Graveyard caretakers may help maintain accurate records of burials, plot ownership, and other administrative tasks related to cemetery operations.
3. Headstone and Monument Care: They may also be responsible for maintaining and repairing headstones and monuments. This can include cleaning, straightening, or fixing damaged markers.
4. Safety and Security: Ensuring the safety of the cemetery grounds, including managing access to the site, monitoring for vandalism, and making sure the area remains undisturbed.
5. General Repairs: Over time, various cemetery structures like fences, gates, or pathways may need repairs, and caretakers often take care of those.
The job can be physically demanding but also offers a chance to help maintain a place of peace and respect.
