Senior Medical Scientist
We are currently recruiting a full-time, permanent Senior Medical Scientist based in the Red Cell Immunohaematology Laboratory at the National Blood Centre.
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a senior role in the RCI Laboratory at the National Blood Centre. The successful candidate will be performing routine, specialised and research/development work to the highest professional standards and also participating in leading a team of skilled scientists while creating and promoting healthy working relationships.

Requirements:
* Recognised postgraduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science
* Eligible for or hold fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (FACSLM)
* Registered with CORU
* 4 years experience in a laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience in the area of blood transfusion
* Good computer skills
* Knowledge/experience of working in a GMP environment
* Leadership and training skills
* Knowledge of ISO accreditation
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience of working out-of-hours/on-call in a Blood Transfusion Laboratory
* Extensive experience of red cell immunohaematology including complex red cell antibody investigation, resolution of blood group anomalies and compatibility testing
* Problem solving ability and ability to make rational calm decisions under pressure
* High level of commitment to tasks undertaken in quality environment
Salary and Benefits:
The salary scale attached to the post is €65,360 to €86,295 (incl. LSI) pro rata per annum. Entry point onto the salary scale is dependent upon relevant experience.
