About the Role:
The Compliance and AML Support Officer will assist in ensuring that Link Credit Union complies with all regulatory and legal obligations, particularly in relation to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), the Credit Union Act, applicable Guidance Notes, Codes of Practice and the Central Bank handbook.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the credit union's Compliance and AML/CFT policies and procedures.
* Promote, embed and enhance best practice, by fostering, encouraging, and cultivating a strong compliance culture within the credit union.
* Support the ongoing monitoring of member transactions for suspicious activity and escalate concerns as necessary.
* Assist in the preparation of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) for the relevant authorities.
* Maintain AML/CFT records, including STRs, monitoring reports and audit/reviews.
* Facilitate compliance with the Credit Union Act, the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Acts, and other applicable regulations.
* Conduct compliance and AML audits as required.
* Assist in the maintenance and review of the AML risk framework.
* Support staff training on compliance and AML requirements.
* Report to the line manager as required on a regular basis, keeping them informed of all matters relevant to the role.
* Assist in preparing compliance and AML reports for consideration by the Compliance Manager/Management Team.
* Proactively engage with new developments and services being introduced, ensuring compliance with the relative regulatory and legislative requirements.
* Attend and contribute to staff meetings as required and participate in the performance management reviews.
* Maintain a high professional competency, attending training and workshops as required, complying with all policies and procedures as set out by the credit union.
* Be aware and comply with all Health & Safety regulations as directed by the credit union, ensuring adherence to the Health & Safety Policy of the credit union.
* Participate and assist with scheduled member events such as the Annual General Meeting, Credit Union Days, Members Open Days and evenings and the annual schools quiz or other events.
Requirements:
* Educated to at least Leaving Certificate level.
* Ideally hold a qualification such as a Certificate/Diploma in compliance, QFA or similar qualification relevant to the role or be willing to undertake training to achieve minimum competence requirements and maintain CPD, as set by the Central Bank of Ireland for the credit union sector.
* Experience in a compliance or AML function is an advantage.
* Knowledge of AML/CFT legislation, the Credit Union Act and financial legislation and regulations.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills with the ability to work independently.
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
* Full clean driving licence as the position involves travel to other locations.
