Drumlin House Training Centre, Cootehill, Co Drumlin House Cavan delivers quality, person-focused, day services to adults with intellectual disabilities. Programmes may include independent living, personal development, and occupational and leisure activities, within the context of a quality of life model in line with the New Directions Standards for Day Services.
The service works to promote and support the individual’s personal growth with a focus on community integration, positive relationship building, understanding their rights and responsibilities as an adult, and exploring their own potential for a bright future.
We are looking to add to our staff team to support and assist our service users in their day-to-day tasks; their safety and wellbeing will be of utmost priority at all times. You will nurture their ability to make their own choices and support them to reach their full potential.
We are currently recruiting for the following role:
Support Worker
Full time - 35 hours per week €15.99 per hour
Job Duties & Responsibilities
* To build trusting relationships and communication with service users, facilitating them to identify their goals, strengths, and needs.
* To be a key worker to service users in order to facilitate the Person-Centred Planning process. To identify goals and supports required by individual service users and maintain records as required.
* To support individuals and groups in accessing their community to meet identified needs by facilitating activities and programmes and any other reasonable duties as deemed appropriate by the Instructor/Programme Leader and Centre Management.
* To observe all rules and regulations of the service ensuring that all relevant Drumlin House administrative rules, regulations, policies, and procedures are adhered to at all times.
Minimum Education & Skills Required
* Minimum QQI Level 5 (full award) in Health or Social Care, or equivalent.
* Good knowledge of New Directions Standards for Day Services.
* Knowledge and understanding of a range of intellectual disabilities including Autism.
* 1 year minimum experience of working in a relevant setting with experience of facilitating and implementing person-centred plans.
Additional Requirements
* Must have good report writing skills and IT skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Full manual driving license.
