In RTÉ Technology we are responsible for leading and driving the implementation of the technology strategy, and for stimulating change and new ways of working across the organization, empowering and enabling RTÉ to be an effective and efficient digital content and channels business.
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Media Production Infrastructure Manager to join our dynamic team. This critical leadership role involves overseeing the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of RTÉ’s Television and Radio Studios as well as their associated production systems infrastructure.
As Media Production Infrastructure Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of these essential technology systems and services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions, support seamless production workflows, and maintain RTÉ’s reputation for delivering world-class media content.
This role will report to the Head of Technology Infrastructure. About the role:
1. Overseeing the technical planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of television and radio studio infrastructure and production systems.
2. Leading a team of skilled engineers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, ensuring that staff have the skills and support they need to do their best work.
3. Developing and implementing strategies to ensure production technology infrastructure solutions are scalable, reliable, secure and future-proofed.
4. Developing, managing and maintaining budgets for technology infrastructure and resources.
5. Facilitating collaboration with the wider Technology and Technical Operations teams, and across the organisation.
6. Providing thought leadership and strategic guidance for future-proofing RTÉ’s production infrastructure.
About you:
1. A degree in Broadcast Engineering, Media Technology, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent technical experience).
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar, highly technical role, within broadcast, media or production, with experience managing and maintaining television and radio production systems and infrastructure industry.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, as well as cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
4. Experience in strategic planning and executing large-scale infrastructure projects within tight deadlines and budgets.
5. In-depth understanding of the media production industry, including trends, challenges, and emerging technologies.
6. Familiarity with emerging technologies, such as cloud-based production, virtualised workflows, and remote production systems, and a knowledge of industry standards and protocols, e.g. SMPTE, AES, and IP-based standards including ST 2110.

This appointment will be made at the Manager Grade 2 level and is being offered on an ongoing contract basis. The salary scale for this grade is from €71,532 to €100,334 gross per annum.
