What’s the Role: Support Worker
What It Takes:
An important part of the staff role is to support our service users who have complex needs and help them to manage their emotions.
So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.
Our dedicated staff team support our service users to learn and develop their independence skills which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role and we encourage staff to use their humour and sense of fun and creativity in supporting our service users with day to day life.
Where You Would Work: Pinewoods
Pinewoods is a purpose built 5 bedroom house with an additional self-contained apartment. Each bedroom has its own en-suite attached. Pinewoods provides overnight short breaks to children between the ages of 8 to 19 (provided they are in fulltime education) years.
Pinewoods provides specialist support for a mixed group of children with intellectual disabilities and/or Autism, associated social & communication difficulties and behaviours of concern. Many of the children attending Pinewoods will be allocated 1:1 or 2:1 staffing based on their individual needs.
Pinewoods provides short breaks for families by providing a high quality, caring, environment for their children. The environment is child friendly and focuses on 'home from home' care. Pinewoods has a fully fitted sensory room for children to help self-regulate as well as a Cubbie to help the children should they require additional support with managing anxieties or behaviours of concern there is also a recently refurbished back garden with an array of different outdoor activities.
This service provides specialised, person-centred packages of support with the emphasis being on service users fulfilling their potential through the development of vocational and life skills.
We focus on developing transferable skills which fosters and encourages the achievement of personal goals. By supporting service users to become involved in the day-to-day activities we are able to develop a fulfilled sense of achievement while building confidence, new friendships, teamwork, communication skills and problem solving skills.
The staff team are a competent and caring group of people who all undergo an in depth training and induction programme so as to ensure each person working in the service is able to feel confident within their role. The staff team comprises of the manager, an admin assistant, three and a half team leaders and 7 support workers.
Pinewoods is located in Ashbourne which is the second largest town in Co: Meath. There are a wealth of community facilities close by such as local shops, parks, cinema and leisure centres. The service also has easy access into Dublin City Centre and the surrounding countryside.

Salary Details:
Support Worker
Full Time
€27,990 – €38,844 per annum (Dependant on Qualification)
*Salary based on 39 hours per week. Salary dependent on qualification/experience. Where the role requires sleep-ins, a minimum additional payment of the national minimum wage per night applies*
