Client-side Commercial Manager
Our client is an infrastructure company who are seeking to engage a client-side Commercial manager for a series of rail orientated projects (significant project values) in the Cork Area from design/concept stage through to construction.
Duties:
1. Providing diligent commercial management support from feasibility stage through tender and implementation stages, to project completion.
2. Effective utilisation of in-house and external resources.
3. Responsible for schedule, budget, and integration management of the programme.
4. Preparation of contract documents.
5. Prepare project budget cost estimates and detailed cost plans and undertake regular reviews and provide updates as required.
6. Collaborate with the internal and external design teams to provide commercial advice in respect of design decisions.
7. Review tender documentation prior to issue and, in particular, advise on completeness of employer’s design information.
8. Support or, where requested, lead the tender evaluation process and prepare tender evaluation reports.
9. On award of contract, draft and issue the relevant contract documentation to the successful bidder.
10. Evaluate contractor’s payment applications and prepare payment certificates for approval by the relevant project manager.
11. Undertake proactive cost monitoring on all projects.
12. Evaluate and assist in the negotiation of delay/disruption and other claims.
13. Prepare Final Account including adjustment for variations/claims etc.
14. In conjunction with the Project Manager lead Final Account negotiations with Contractor to ensure that all settlements reached deliver best value for money, are fully auditable and are in line with the contract provisions.
Requirements:
1. Professional Qualifications as a QS or Construction Economics degree.
2. Minimum of 8 years relevant experience commensurate to this role.
3. Proven commercial skills, awareness, and experience (pre & post-contract duties) on large construction projects.
4. Demonstrable ability to manage and administer construction contracts.
5. Detailed knowledge and application of the Public Works suite of contracts.
Work hours: 36 hrs per week – Salary €95K
